Waldameer

Waldameer is on the south coast of Lake Eerie and as such not too easy to get to. It took one of the longest drives of the trip to reach it, but it was totally worth it.

It's an informal park

The main reason for visiting was to ride the Gravity Group coaster Ravine Flyer 2. This opened 3 or so years ago and has a signature element of a two way hill over a main road. It looks spectacular and rides even better. It's just a shame they've had to put netting up to stop things being thrown onto the road.

The ride is like a baby Voyage with a few sharp turns to the right that have to be learnt. I found that if I stood up in the seat at those points my thigh would take the hit into the car rather than the hip. We had an end of day ERS on the ride for an hour, most of it spent in the front row trying to jump the entire road by throwing ourselves up in the seats at the right moment and letting the restraint carry us over. If you're going to try doing that be careful the lapbar doesn't come down whilst you're up in the air; crushed intestines hurt and it took a week to fully recover (all good though).

In addition to that wonderful coaster we had 3 other coasters to ride. Ravine flyer 3 is a little kiddy coaster.

Steel Dragon is a spinning mouse that even with some rearranging of how the car was balanced never really gave us any mad spin that we know the ride is capable of.

The final ride was the Comet which was a very gentle wooden coaster that is more family friendly than Ravine Flyer 2 and as such had the longer queues, not that you can tell from this pic.

A special mention should also be made of their drop tower which appears to be a new addition to the park (its not on the park map). This was one of the most intense ones of these I'd ever done
with some wonderfully powerful g forces at the bottom of the drop.

and the Wacky Shack was a great dark ride

Bad taste amusement game?

Curious to know what Elephant Ears are I bought one and they're just flat doughnuts covered in icing sugar, which is perfect for blowing in the face of others.

Darren rocks out on the Octopus spin ride.

Is this the most confusing sign of the trip so far?

The park has a number of statues around the park which are very nice but which were being abused by the locals. Inspired by a group of teenage girls who were posing with their breasts squeezed around the head of a bronze boy statue (no pictures unfortunately as the camera was in my bag), we were inspired to do the same. This is our best effort.

I like the editing.

Hey Malcolm! I found my thumbs, look!

Waldameer is a great small park, family run and with a genuine passion for the industry. The Ravine Flyer is an excellent coaster but one that needs to be learnt to be appreciated, just like it's bigger brother.
