Moreys Adventure Pier

After a crap breakfast and a late departure we made our way down to Morey's Piers one of the most highly recommended seaside parks in the world.

The park is spread across 3 piers and features a significant number of coasters, dark rides, spin rides, walkthrough attractions and just about anything else you would need to keep you entertained.

The park gave us an amazing welcome laying on pizza lunch and then gave us an hour across a number of the upcharge rides. These proved to be so popular that the coaster ERS barely happened with a low turnout riding the Great White wooden coaster at any one time.

Darren was a fan of the bungee catapult, not such a fan of the pre-ride chin tickle though. Had he paid for the number of rides he had he would have been $200 worse off, but due the park's hospitality he got them all for free.

After lunch we weren't the only fat pigs in Morey!

The pier had attracted a decent crowd today, and even if you're not a fan of rides the boardwalk still provides enough to keep punters happy.

This looked pretty decent but it was all on the flat beach. Had their been jumps and bumps and banked curves, I'd have paid to ride it.

The piers have 6 coasters. The formentioned wooden one on the southern pier was a little too rough for my liking. It's also a shame that you're not allowed to take a camera on the cable car.

Nice sign on one of the numerous haunted walkthrough attractions.

On the middle pier there are two coasters. A boomerang that isn't the legendary one that runs really well, and a pinfari galaxi style coaster that was alright I think due to the single cars.

Also on the middle pier is Ignis Faatus a haunted walkthrough themed around a ghost ship. Due to a lack of time constraints we didn't get to do it, but those that did said it was just OK.

The northern pier has the remaining three coasters. A nicely themed Flitzer, a rather strange mouse made by Zamperla and an SLC that has had new restraints fitted which left me confused as to what to do with my hands as they're usually locked around the hand grips that have now been replaced with a neoprene vest. There's also a cute themed drop tower.

Subliminal advertising for Ginsters.

The heat was all too much for some.

The best view of the piers comes from the big wheel.

You get to see a nice view of the very compact water park.

Overall I was amazed with the park, it is easily way better than Blackpool and Atlantic City. There is a really nice vibe around the place and everyone appears to be out to have a good time, in fact this resort does seem to attract the college crowd but doesn't appear to have the trouble usually attributed to them. The boardwalk area is very clean and full of touristy type shops...

and the best police car ever!

Some of the locals are a little bid odd looking, but still happy to pose for photos.

The park showed us plans for their new wooden coaster to be open in 2013. It runs between 2 of the piers and looks immense. A good reason to go back. I also liked that the park benefits from a very diverse workforce with staff from places as far afield as Russia, Malaysia and Mexico. A great place to practice your foreign language skills.
